Prem’s Mosoon Trek: One of my client Suzan Sbolick from Germany, we started our trek to Annapurna circuit trek on 17/07/2008: It went well success. We covered many side trip for eg: upper trail of Pisang through upper Pisang, then 2 hours up to Gyaru village 3675 m., continued to Ngawal 3570, and dropped at Braga 3460 m. Next day hiked up to Ice-lake 4640 m, , 4 hours above Braga which is very good for well acclimatization for Thorong la 5416 m. I always do it so and every time went successfull. From Manang 3570 m, we been up to Gangapurna Ice fall view called Chhyankur 3830 m. It takes slowly 2 hours from Manang, for that you should be branched to the left of newly build stupa just before Thorong la hotel, then drop to the Marsyangdi river & cross the suspension bridge or you may come directly taking lower way from Braga as well. Before getting to the top already you have very beautiful view of blue ice melted lake called Gangapurna Ice fall lake.
If you would have time you shall visit the Milarepa cave 4200 m, and gompa situated near by Annapurna III 5555 m. Way to milarepa cave is up hills along the beautiful pine forest. It might take 2:30 – 3:30 hours depends of your pace. There is a monk live into the cave nearly whole year, he might go away when there is too heavy snow fall.
And there is saying about Milarepa was a hunter, he had a bow. One day when he arrived there (named Milarepa) he was given some new message by a wild deer (Buddha sent it to him) hunting or murdering is more good for the entire lives, so please leave it now, then immediately he decided not to hunt anymore and left all his hunting gears over there. When you visit that place can take with you a powerful lanced camera or binocular to see a bow is still hanging in the Milarepa’s clief. And you can see some cave where Milrepa was stayed and meditated in. (this story was explained by a local man in Braga).
Other option is if you got time may also visit to Khangshar and upper khanshar and Tare Gompa the trail to Tilicho lake. Upper khangshar is very beautiful day hiking & picturesque spot.
And some day you can visit to Praken Gompa (cave), where a 100 Rs. Lama live, who is over 96 yrs old. He put the holy book of Buddhist on your head and pray for your good luck to Thorong la as well.
Then after the pass there are many side trip around Muktinath, kagbeni, Jomsom, Marpha, Tukuche, Larjung, Kalopani lete and many more…
You either end your trek in Beni or better chance to see more views then including poon hill Ghorepani and Ghandruk to Nayapul or Phedi.
